Meta-Representational Competence
Meta Representational Competence (MRC) refers to the progression of understanding about forms and functions of displays. Meta Representational Competence encompasses the creation, interpretation, and comprehension of various forms and functions of displays, but its most significant aspect is appreciation of the strengths and limitations of displays in relation to particular research questions.
Levels
1 Emerging representational competencies.
2 Elementary representational competencies.
3 Articulate how features of display reveal something about the structure of the data.
4 Simultaneously consider what displays show and hide about the structure of the data.
5 Evaluate trade-offs within or among displays in relation to a particular claim.
